Poem: saying goodbye
Mar. 15th, 2018 12:22 pmI want you to know
This isn't the first time
I want you to know
This won't be the last
There's a secret passage
Leading into the dark
Where you stow away
Every once in a while
The words you have said
Playing on in my mind
I don't know how you feel
But your eyes say it all
I dreamt up this fiction
What I wished to be true
But it isn't the truth
It's my own damning lie
I made up your love
I made up those words
So I'm saying goodbye
Though I know you'll return
The hidden door will open
And you'll sneak back inside
But until then
Bury it down, down
Goodbye my friend
Goodbye again
This isn't the first time
I want you to know
This won't be the last
There's a secret passage
Leading into the dark
Where you stow away
Every once in a while
The words you have said
Playing on in my mind
I don't know how you feel
But your eyes say it all
I dreamt up this fiction
What I wished to be true
But it isn't the truth
It's my own damning lie
I made up your love
I made up those words
So I'm saying goodbye
Though I know you'll return
The hidden door will open
And you'll sneak back inside
But until then
Bury it down, down
Goodbye my friend
Goodbye again
